Jason Todd is coming to Arkham Knight

Source.A Red Hood Story Pack will be available for the newest Batman game as a bonus when you pre-order from Gamestop (and most likely you will be able to purchase it months after the game release). The character was redesigned to fit the Arkham series style. I like the look, it looks like something anybody can put together. Sadly it doesn't come for the PS3 (just for XBox One, PC aqnd PS4), so I won't be able to play it.

Trailer for the Failed Superman Movie Documentary

If you ever saw An Evening with Kevin Smith, you know there was going to be a Superman film in the 90's based (loosely) on the Death and Return storyline. Smith wrote the first draft, Tim Burton Burton was brought on board to direct and Nicholas Cage was cast as Superman (with a Kryptonian mullet). Long story short, the movie was never made but there are copies of the script, pictures of concept art and prototype Superman suits around the web that raised fan interest about the project. Film maker Jon Schnepp decided to make a documentary about the ill fated movie called The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?. It includes interviews with Smith, Burton and even Grant Morrison (All-Star Superman writer).

I love this type of documentaries that gives you an idea of what happens behind production. And I remember rumors about this movie back in the 90's and wondered what happened. Still, I would love to see Nicholas Cage play Superman in a over-the-top kind of way (not in a big budget movie). Definitely a day-one purchase for me. For more info about the movie, check this site. I included the clip from An Evening with Kevin Smith. Enjoy.

Fun with Photoshop: Robotech 2 for the NES

Another fake game box made with Photoshop, this time based on Robotech 2: The Sentinels the sequel to the classic animated series. Robotech was made using 3 anime series that had nothing in common and stitched together in the U.S. The series was so successful that a sequel was planned (using original animation) but never happened in animation (the animated scenes were edited into a movie). But what if it was released? It would most likely have gotten a NES game.

If you have a suggestion for a fake NES game box, leave a comment with the details. I'll try to post a new game box every Friday.

New Batman v Superman photo!

Set photographer Clay Enos released this picture via his twitter account. Have to say, Ben Affleck looks the part and judging by his last movies (Argo was excellent) he can act it as well. My only concern about this movie is the amount of characters the studio wants to cram into. The have 2 characters popular enough to carry a movie about them sitting in a food court for an hour and a half, you don't need more people to make a story more interesting. Studios should stop trying to imitate Marvel Studio by putting a lot of characters in 1 movie without properly introducing them.

Guardian of the Galaxy figures for Disney Infinity

It's been years but still is hard to believe that Marvel is owned by Disney. A set of Guardians of the Galaxy figures for the popular Disney Infinity game (it's like Skylanders) will come out for the 2.0 update. The figures look petty sweet to put on a desk or shelve. Now, seriously, where is the X-Men set? We have an Avengers set, a Spider-Man, a Guardians of the Galaxy set and no X-Men (yeah, not even Wolverine). A lot of Marvel's most popular characters are members of the X-Men. I hope they released a set of Marvel's Merry Mutants or at least sell them individually.

Amazing Spider-Man 3 future

 Source.
After Amazing Spider-Man 2, was panned by critics, did not perform as expected at the box office (still made money) and the loss of writer Roberto Orci things didn't look well for the third installment of the franchise, but according to Sony, Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be released... in 2018(?). The Sinister Six movie will be released (apparently) in November 2016 (and who knows what will happen to the Venom spin-off)

Amazing 2 was not a great movie, it was OK. I don't feel like Mark Webb (the director) had the freedom he needed to tell his story. Sony was obsessed with the idea of having a "cinematic universe" of their own and (in what I think it happened) keep forcing characters and plot points until the movie turn into a mess. Much like what happened with Sam Raimi in the third Spidey film.

Could this be the end of the Amazing Spider-Man franchise? Who knows. We have to wait and see if Mark Webb and Andrew Garfield return. Four years seem like a lot of time but that ow much we waited for The Dark Knight Rises. But the fact that the Sinister Six movie will come out 2 years before Amazing 3 could be a problem if it under performs.

Ugliest Ad I have ever seen!

I was watching videos on YouTube and this monstrosity appeared. It looks like something from an Evil Dead movie on steroids (First pump some iron, then swallow souls). I don't know but with those faces I have my doubts about trusting "1 weird tip".

This Wednesday is Batman Day

Celebrating 75 years of the iconic character, DC will release a special edition of Detective Comics #27 (his first appearance) that include the original story by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, a retelling by  Brad Meltzer with art by Bryan Hitch, and more. Also, there will be capes and 4 Batman masks based on different eras of the Caped Crusader's history. These items will be available at participant comic stores only. This is a really awesome promotion for the character, I don't remember if they gave Superman this treatment last year but oh well...(he had a movie I guess).

This is not the official anniversary logo but I did it just for fun.

Happy Friend Day!!

In Argentina, July 20th is Friend Day (Día del Amigo). The day we celebrate the people we can have fun with, share our problems and argue without caring who wins. To everyone, Happy Friend Day!
The image is from a popular Argentinian cartoon called Mafalda. It was taken from http://www.garuyo.com.

I made this fake cover for a game that doesn't exist using Photoshop. Gave it an epic 80's metallic chrome effect for the fonts!

Trailer for the Constantine TV series

The newest comic book character to hit the small screen is Constantine, a British detective of the occult and  con man. The character had a long run in DC's Vertigo imprint (Hellblazer) before returning to the "main" DC Universe in the New 52 (along with Swamp Thing). Since then, DC has been really pushing him (his own book, Justice League Dark and Injustice Year 3). I'm not very familiar with the character (just what I saw in the 2005 movie, not the best first impression) but will give it a shot, maybe Swamp Thing shows up since both have a long history together (Swampy used Constantine as a vessel to impregnate his wife... what?). The series starts this fall on NBC.

MazinGetter Z!!!

Source.
Looks like Dynamic produced a Mazinger Z figure with the color scheme (and huge ax) of Getter Robo. And, as you can see, it looks fricking awesome! I grew up watching Mazinger Z and would hate any changes in the color but have to admit this palette fits the design really well (would have colored the area under the eyes and the nose black). It would be great to see a Getter Robo figure with Mazinger Z colors. For more info on how to own one of these, check the link (it's in Japanese).

Original flavor Ruffles found!!!

Months ago, I posted about how hard it is to find original flavor Ruffles in Puerto Rico (Cheddar and BBQ are everywhere). Kept searching for months and not finding said chips in any gas station or supermarket. But at last, I found them, in a vending machine at a home for the elderly. And with the price of $0.75, victory tasted good, original flavor good!

New Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer!

July 31 can't get sooner! This movie looks like a lot of fun. The character interactions are so good (at least what have been showed in the trailers) that the action seems like the icing on the cake. The music seems a little off for a sci-fi flick but somehow (the really weird characters maybe) it fits. Hope it lives up to the hype (and Marvel is really hyping this movie) in a summer full of dragon, monsters, time-traveling mutants, smart primates, robots in disguise and alien invaders.

Teen Titans Fake Ad

Just for fun, I did this version of the new ad that appears on this month books.

Edge of Tomorrow Movie Review

It's like Groundhog Day with guns.
Based on the novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), an officer who has no combat training, is send to a suicide mission against an alien race.  After being exposed to one of the invaders, Cage finds himself repeating the same day each time he is killed. With every time he experiences combat, his skills increase, but is not enough to win the battle. He seeks the help of Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), a Special Forces warrior to help him repel the the aliens once and for all.

Grayson #1 Review

Grayson, DC's newest series featuring ex-Robin Dick Grayson was released last Wednesday and it was great. Written by Tim Seeley  with art by Mikel Janin, the issue takes place sometime after Nightwing #30 and sets the stage for this new direction for the main character.  I will try to keep spoilers to a minimum.

DC's new books ads are weird

If you bought a comic book published by DC, you might have seen these ads. They try to be funny but at the same time they seem very weird and making you think twice before purchasing the book. Let's take a look at the add for Grayson.

It sounds really aggressive. The use of the character name as a pun feels really rushed and in need of attention. If you think this is bad, wonder what was left in the cutting room. What kind of ideas has the marketing agency throwing at 3 of the morning. Join me after the jump to see that it could have been much worst (and before you ask, I don't work for DC or any company affiliated with them, this were done for fun).

Brandon Routh joins the third season of Arrow

Taken from wikimedia.org
Source.
Former Superman returns (ha!) to the DC Universe to play Ray Palmer (the Atom). Palmer will be a recurring role in the TV series. This marks the second time the Atom appeared in a live action project (the first one being the awful Justice League TV movie from the 90's) With the Flash premiering this year, could the CW try to launch an Atom series as well?

As for Brandon Routh, he did the best he could as Superman (the story was not good). I'm sure he'll do Ray Palmer justice.

Brazil vs Germany

While I don't follow sports in general, this is something to talk about. Today, Germany unleashed hell over Brazil with a victory of 7-1. Every person in the world (even those like me, who don't know much about soccer) know that Brazil is one of the greats (they won the World Cup 5 times) and this defeat came unexpected. Without a doubt, this will be the most talk about game of this event. Let's see what happens tomorrow when Argentina (I'm from there, Yay!!!) faces The Netherlands.

DC Monster variant covers

This October, DC is releasing monster-theme variant covers. These 2 are my favorites!!

More covers here.

Gundam Reconguista in G will have a theatrical preview... in Japan

 Source: gundam.info
The newest entry in the popular Gundam meta series  will have a special preview this August. Showing only in 13 theaters across Japan for two weeks, this preview will show the first 3 episodes. The preview will also be internet streamed on the d Anime Store (it's in Japanese). The show will begin airing this fall in Japan on MBS.

This new entry marks the return of legendary director Yoshiyuki Tomino and it seems to take place years after "Universal Century" (the main Gundam timeline)now called "Regild Century". I'm really hyped for this project. Tomino has yet to let me down in a Gundam series (Turn A had a great story, even if the mecha design was... different). Hope this one makes it out of Japan on DVD at least.

Dracula Untold trailer

This is the first trailer for the new Universal movie about the Prince of Darkness. It seems like a comic-book style origin story that tries to combine the historical Vlad Tepes with the character created by Bram Stoker. The first half of the trailer reminded me of 300 but the second part makes me think of Castlevania. The settings, how he uses his powers and the way the character looks. Maybe the film makers took some inspiration from the legendary video game series. The movie looks like it might be fun.

New Superman v Batman image!!!

I'm super! Thanks for asking.
Source: USAToday
This new image features Superman (Henry Cavill) from the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (plus Alpha). We see the Man of Steel in what I think is Gotham City. The picture looks really dark. I have no problem with Batman being dark but Superman should be light. That's what make their friendship/rivalry work. The film will open in 2016.

More Batman titles coming this Fall

Apparently we didn't had enough
Newsarama reports that 2 new Batman titles will be released this October, Gotham Academy (written by Becky Cloonan and Brendan Fletcher, drawn by Karl Kerschl) and Arkham Manor (written by Gerry Duggan and drawn by Shawn Crystal).

I love Batman since forever, but DC is really stretching him thin. One of the things that DC did right with The New 52 relaunch (reboot) was the variety of genre, we had military, westerns, fantasy and horror; now all we are getting are superheroes (and most of them are Bat-Titles).

Audition is getting a Hollywood remake

According to deadline.com an American version of Audition (originally a novel by  Ryu Murakamiis) is on the works with Richard Gray attached as the director. The film promises to follow the books very closely but will be adapted to a western culture background. The film is expected to be released next year.

The book was already adapted to the screen by Takeshi Miike and is considered a cult classic. It is one of the very few movies that can manage to scare me. We'll see how this new version compares to the 1999 one.

X-Men: Apocalypse script page revealed

Bryan Singer posted a page from the next X-men movie via his Instagram account. Yay, the Four Horsemen!!!
20th Century Fox

Tranformers 4 opened big everywhere

I HAVE THE POWEEERRR!!!

Source IGN
Michael Bay's prayers to Robot Heaven have been answered, Transformer Age of Extinction made approximately $301 million in the weekend around the world. It is the biggest opening for a foreign movie in China, making approximately $90 million (it helps that part of the movie was filmed there).

Critics seem to hate the movie but that doesn't stop the public to rush to the theater. While I'm not to fond of the franchise (the first one was average at best and the other 2 where horrible) there is no denying that the majority of moviegoers love it (or are force to go go by an annoying friend/boyfriend/son/brothers). We can expect more sequels along the way.

Changes for "Wolverine and the X-Men"

This post contains some spoilers.

Nightwing Digital Comics Sale!!!

With a week away from the release of Grayson #1, DC Comics is having a $.99 an issue sale for 7 days!
