JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time review

It's like the Super Friends, but in a good way!
Over the past few years, DC Entertainment has released direct-to-video animated movies for a more adult audience. JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time  goes for the 5 to 10 years old. It tabs into the more Saturday morning, campy approach. It's a great introduction of the DC Universe for a younger audience.
We find the Justice League in a battle against the Legion of Doom. The Legion is defeated and their leader (Lex Luthor) is missing. In true Captain America fashion, Lex is recovered in the future, trapped in a chunk of ice and put on display in the Superman Museum of the 31st Century. Dawnstar and Karate Kid (not that one) visit the exhibition and end up freeing the villain. Luthor takes the Eternity Glass, a artifact that holds the Time Trapper, and travels back to the present to take revenge on the League. Karate Kid and Dawnstar follow with the intention to amend their mistake. While it lacks the sharp dialogue and character conflict that are present in more mature animated features (such as Justice League War), the movie is just fun! It has action, comedy and a lesson to be learned. It's a great movie to enjoy with your kids or younger brother. One thing that I really liked is the way Aquaman and Robin are portayed. They kick ass, left and right! And rightfully so, they are some of the most under rated characters in comics.

Little brothers everywhere don't need to feel bad when they get to be Robin

The voice acting is great, with Diedrich Bader reprising his role as Batman. Just as with The Brave and The Bold, he's a great Dark Knight. I hope he keeps being the premiere voice actor for the more kid-friendly incarnations of Batman (as Kevin Conroy is for the more mature).

"Don't hate me because I'm Batman"
Some minor complains that I have are, some scenes where the animation feels choppy, the Flash kind of sucked and Superman's costume. I don't get why he wears the New 52 armor and Bizarro sports the classic costume (with the mullet!). Even Batman has a more classic grey and blue costume.

In other words, JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time is a really fun movie that can be enjoyed by anyone. It has that "Super Friends feeling", but the story is fun and exciting, the characters look awesome and the voice acting is superb. While there's an animation quality shift between some scenes is nothing too distracting. If you have kids, will babysit one or feel like one at heart;  pop this one on the DVD player and have a good time!
