SNK Playmore released The Rhythm of Fighters, a King of Fighters music spin-off (think Elite Beat Agents mixed with Street Fighter) for Android and iOS platforms.
It is a great introduction of the 20 years old franchise for mobile gamers since fighting games tent to be a little difficult to pull of correctly with touch screen controls only. The game is very entertaining and addictive, with music from the KOF series, Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug, Fatal Fury and more. The game includes 3 characters, Kyo (wielder of the crimson flame) Athena (pop star fighter extraordinaire) and Ryo (blond Ryu, but not Ken). Here's the official trailer:
While I have a great time playing the game, there is one mayor complain, the In-App purchases. From what I saw, there's no way to unlock the extra character by playing the game, and that sucks, especially taking into account that the games cost $.99 and each character $2.99 (3 times the price of the game!!!). And to add salt to the open wound, the extra characters are Nakoruru (from Samurai Shodown), Iori and Terry.
What?! C'mon, get serious! |
With Nakoruru I can somewhat understand that she is a DLC character but Terry and Iori should have been default characters. It would have been better if SNK released character packs of $2.99 instead of just one. Besides this, it is a fun game, perfect to kill some time while waiting at the dentist (or Government office). Check it out.
