This issue presents a possible future for Dick Grayson and Helena Bertinelli that takes place 5 years from now (he’s not Nightwing again). After the war with another world, Dick and Helena are heroes, and the KGBeast becomes the president of the newly reformed Russia. But the Russian people are still suffering, and it’s up to Dick to set things right one last time. The issue asks for the reader’s time and attention, and it will deliver a great tale about responsibility, loyalty and love.
The story is told in a very interesting “backward way”, each page takes you back in time, from the consequences of Grayson’s actions in Russia, in the present to the fateful day when his parents were killed. To fully appreciate the story, it must be read more than once. The story is more about character interaction than action. It’s very dialogue heavy. The relationship between Dick and Helena is very well developed, they compliment nicely. She’s serious and uptight while he is more laid back.

The art is somewhat OK. The layouts are great and the characters look dynamic but in some panels the facial expressions look strange. I’m not familiar with the artist work so I can’t judge if it was because the artwork was rushed.

In conclusion, Grayson: Future Ends delivers an excellent story, told in a really interesting narrative that ask the reader to re-read the issue to fully enjoy the experience. The art could be better but carries the story nicely. Highly recommended if you are willing to invest time with this story. If you’re looking for a more action-oriented issue, skip this one.
